Project Challenge
The Project involved upgrading the existing decades-old low pressure gas system to a newly installed HDPE high pressure system. Project challenges included working around multiple existing and unknown utilities.
Project Solution
In order to safely complete the installations, South State was required to diligently pursue existing conditions both inside and outside of homes and businesses. Since the project took place in an economically challenged area with many vacant homes and businesses, in many instances it took extra coordination with the city to verify property ownership in order to gain access and complete our work. The work included installation of 28,000 feet of 8”, 6”, 4” and 2” main, abandonment of 31,000 feet of deteriorating gas main, renewal of 307 gas services, as well as 26,000 square feet of paving.
